(FINAL) LO3: Be able to research and plan content for an article

Planning my Article
  • Sport (BBC Sport, Sky Sports, The Telegraph, Metro)
  • Education
  • Politics (BBC, The Guardian, Politics.co.uk, Politics Home)
For a sports article, I could document the rise of non-league football as there are a number of small football clubs in my local area. I could also try and get an interview with a player from my local professional team who used to play for a non-league team.

For an education article, I could discuss the funding issues with my old secondary school as it is rumoured to receive over 1 million pounds less than other schools.

LO3: Initial Ideas for Article

In my article, I want to write about the rising popularity of non-league football. I wish to write about this topic as I have a keen interest in all aspects of football and am keen to find out what draws people to watch low budget, non-professional football instead of the "big money" professional game. To source information for my article, I will use reliable websites such as Pitchero aw well as conducting my own primary research.

·        Fans are tired of overpaying for professional football
·        Opportunity for more football as people still attend professional matches as well as non-league
·        Non-league is more friendly & less stressful
·        Non-league offers a unique local product (local interest, local beer, cheap prices, freedom of movement around the ground, the ability to stand and drink, and as a result the atmosphere is often better than at the multitudes of generic bucket seat league grounds.)
This information could be used in my article as it provides a useful insight into the reasons why people chose to watch non-league football. It talks about all the major issues regarding the falling attendance of professional football, which will be useful to me, as I want my article to look in depth as to why non-league football attendances are increasing which means I need to explore multiple reasons.

It will also allow me to explore how non-league football is at risk of commercialisation through ‘big money’ TV deals as some non-league football games are starting to be televised.
